Zaira Prudencio
Performances at La Cantaora
Zaira Prudencio, originally from Badajoz, Extremadura, began her journey in the world of flamenco at the age of 4 when her mother enrolled her in a local academy with some school friends, initially as a pastime. Over the years, her interest in dance grew, and at the age of 11, she started formal training under the guidance of Jesús Ortega, whom she considers her mentor and who helped her discover her passion for this art form.
From the age of 11 to 17, Zaira participated in various events in Badajoz and entered her first tablao competition, where she received an honorable mention as a young promise. Before turning 18, she competed in the 2022 Manolo Soler dance competition, winning a scholarship to join the Cristina Heeren Foundation, which she now considers her home and where she has solidified her career as a bailaora.
In the summer of 2022, she had her first professional opportunity at the Cardamomo tablao in Madrid, performing there for two weeks. In September of the same year, she moved to Seville, performing in several renowned tablaos such as Los Gallos, Peña Flamenca Torres Macarena, and La Cantaora. She also showcased her talent in Granada at tablaos like Casa Ana and Jardines de Zoraya.
In 2023, Zaira participated in two tablao competitions in Madrid, at the Centro Flamenco Cultural Madrid and the Las Carboneras tablao, winning first place in both. This success allowed her to work in these venues and expand her presence in the Madrid flamenco scene. Throughout the year, she also performed with Los Vargas in various locations across Extremadura and at the Mont de Marsan Festival 2024. She participated in the Festival Porrina de Badajoz as well.
Looking ahead, in September 2024, Zaira has the honor of performing at La Suma Flamenca Joven in Madrid.
