Milena Tejada

She began her dance training at the age of 3. In 2009, she discovered flamenco and joined the first flamenco and Spanish dance company in Bolivia. In 2013, she was awarded the “Young Artistic Promise” prize by the Ministry of Culture of La Paz.

Between 2014 and 2015, she continued her training through intensive summer courses at the prestigious Fundación Cristina Heeren (Seville), studying with renowned teachers such as Milagros Mengíbar, Javier Barón, Antonio Molina “El Choro” and Luisa Palicio. In 2015, she won first prize at La Paz del Flamenco, Bolivia’s first international flamenco competition. The following year, she headlined the Second International Flamenco Festival of La Paz as a guest soloist.

In 2017, she returned to Seville to complete the full flamenco dance training program at Fundación Cristina Heeren. She later co-directed and starred in the show Estudios for the Montréal Flamenco Festival, and between 2018 and 2020 toured across Toronto, Quebec and Ottawa alongside local artists.

In 2021, she won second prize at the “Manolo Soler” Flamenco Dance Competition and was awarded the “Acciona” scholarship to continue her studies in Seville. In 2023, she earned several awards: third prize at “Flamenco Puro” in Jerez (Young Promises category), second prize at the XXXIII Andalusian Federation of Peñas competition, and in 2024, first prize at the II Tablao Competition of the Centro Cultural Flamenco de Madrid.

In December 2023, she premiered her first solo show, Creciente, touring several Bolivian cities. The production received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for Best Dance Performance of the Year.

She currently performs in renowned flamenco venues in Seville, including Los Gallos, La Casa de la Memoria, the Museo del Baile Flamenco, Las Setas and Teatro Flamenco Triana. She is also part of Gabriel Aragú’s company with Los Ojos de Bernardo, and of Luisa Palicio’s company with La Maharaní.
