Mario Ruiz

Mario Ruiz is an outstanding flamenco dancer from Mexico whose passion for this art began at the early age of five at the Las Cabales dance school, under the tutelage of teacher Hilda Prats. Throughout his career, he has built a solid foundation by studying with some of the most renowned flamenco artists at the international level, such as Farruquito, Antonio Canales, Triana Maciel, Nino de los Reyes, María Moreno, Mercedes de Córdoba, Luisa Palicio, José Manuel Álvarez, Karen Lugo, Jesús Corbacho, and Juan Campallo, among others.

His talent and dedication have earned him multiple awards and scholarships throughout his career. In 2024, he won First Prize at the Manolo Soler Flamenco Dance Competition in Seville, as well as the prestigious Acciona Scholarship for studies at the Cristina Heeren Foundation in Seville. That same year, he received two awards at the First International Jaleos Extremeños Dance Competition. In 2023, he was recognized as Best Performer and received a cash prize at the Ibérica Contemporánea Festival, a competition that had previously awarded him study scholarships in 2013, 2017, and 2019.

Mario has taken his art to international stages in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, London, Spain, and Mexico. In June 2025, he will premiere his first solo show titled “Desgarrada, Flamenco a Chavela Vargas.” Ruiz has participated in festivals such as Huellas Flamencas (2014, 2016), Encale Festival (2022, 2024), Flamenco Tam Fest (2023), Sacro by Mestiza in London (2024), and Festival Mendoza Flamenca (2025). He has also performed at important tablaos and flamenco clubs in Spain, such as Peña Cultural Flamenca Torres Macarena, Centro Cultural Flamenco de Madrid, Café Berlín, Tablao Casa Ana, and Tablao Albayzín, among others.

With a powerful stage presence and refined technique, Mario represents a new generation of flamenco artists who cross borders, bringing the tradition of this art from Mexico to the world.
