Performances at La Cantaora
Born in Huelva in 1980, Manuel de la Luz is one of the most prominent flamenco guitarists of his generation. With deep musicality and strong training, he has accompanied major singers such as Carmen Linares, Arcángel, La Susi, Lole Montoya, and Miguel Poveda, with whom he recently performed with the Bogotá Symphony Orchestra in Colombia.
As a soloist, he has stood out in the Seville Biennial (2004 and 2006) and the Málaga Biennial (2007) with his show Siete Mundos. In 2010, he premiered Entreluces in Seville and Huelva, receiving rave reviews and sold-out audiences.
Since 2004, he has toured the world with the Eva Yerbabuena Flamenco Ballet, performing at venues like the Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid), City Center (New York), Sydney Opera House, Bellas Artes (Mexico), and Théâtre du Chaillot (Paris).
He has worked alongside Joaquín Grilo, Manuela Carrasco, Esperanza Fernández, and was a finalist in the International Flamenco Guitar Competition of Jerez (2009). He also collaborated in the educational project led by Manolo Sanlúcar.
In 2012, he became Musical Director of the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet, composing the music for Llanto por la muerte de Ignacio Sánchez Mejías as part of the Lorca y Granada cycle.
In 2013, he participated in Que no he muerto, directed by Carmen Linares, adapting traditional songs collected and harmonized by Lorca.
In 2014, he collaborated with the Baltic Orchestra at the Sion Festival (Switzerland) and released his debut album “De la Luz”, presented at the Seville Biennial and named one of the best flamenco albums of 2015.
He has since performed across Spain and Europe and appeared in the film La guitarra vuela, a tribute to Paco de Lucía, premiered at the Ibero-American Film Festival of Huelva.
In 2019, he played a solo concert at the Teatro Real (Madrid) and directed Poema del Cante Jondo with Esperanza Fernández and Antonio Dechent.
His second album, “Mi Clave” (2020), features collaborations with Lole Montoya and Rafael Riqueni, whose Grammy-nominated album Herencia he also produced.
In 2022, he produced Hijos del Corazón for singer Olivia Molina, and recently premiered De donde vengo with El Pecas in Huelva. He is currently working on his next solo album.
