Performances at La Cantaora
Cristina Aguilera was born in Granada in 1992. From an early age, she showed a strong interest in flamenco, beginning her studies with the teacher Mariquilla. She made her debut at the age of 8 in the Jardines Neptuno show under Mariquilla’s guidance. She continued her dance training with Maite Galán, obtaining the title of Spanish Dance and Flamenco from APDE in 2007. In 2010, she completed her studies in Spanish Dance and Flamenco at the Carmen Amaya Conservatory in Madrid.
Throughout her career, Aguilera has performed on numerous stages and festivals. In 2015, she presented her first show, “Encrucijada,” within the Es.Flamenco cycle of the Diputación de Granada. She also collaborated in the show “Divino Amor Humano” by Fuensanta “La Moneta” and was a répétiteur in her company.
In 2016, she was invited by the Estévez and Paños company to participate in their rehearsals. She performed at the XX Festival de Jerez with Fuensanta “La Moneta’s” company in the show “Fui piedra.” Additionally, she participated in the Flamenco Viene del Sur cycle at the Alhambra Theatre in Granada and in the XVIII Edition of the Veranos del Corral, where she premiered her second show, “Corazón abierto.” That year she also performed at the XX edition of the Bienal de Sevilla and at the XVII Encuentros Flamencos in Granada alongside artists such as El Pele, Rancapino Hijo, Kiki Morente, and Gema Caballero.
In 2017, she presented her show “GRANADA” with Alba Heredia in the Flamenco Viene del Sur program. The following year, she participated in the XX Edition of the Veranos del Corral and in the Showcase of the Misión Inversa organized by the Bienal de Sevilla alongside Sergio de Lope’s band. In 2018, she premiered her new production “De agua, plata y tierra,” under the stage direction of Jesús Carmona.
In 2019, Aguilera toured Mexico and the United States, teaching courses and performing. She was also part of Jesús Carmona’s show “Camino” at El Corral de la Morería and presented the show “Albayzín” in Brno, as part of the Festival de Jazz y Músicas del Mundo of the Brno Philharmonic. That same year, she had a soloist role in the show “LORCA Y LA PASIÓN. UN MAR DE SUEÑOS” by Marina Heredia, choreographed by Eva La Yerbabuena and sharing the stage with Farruquito, Miguel Poveda, and José Valencia. Also in 2019, she participated in the Flamenco Festival in London as a guest artist with Sergio de Lope’s band in his project “Ser de Luz.”
In 2020, Aguilera was part of the Tarragona Sona Flamenc Festival program and presented her show “De Agua, Plata y Tierra” at the XXIV Festival de Jerez, receiving excellent reviews. During this year, she began an online training project that is still ongoing.
In 2021, she premiered a new show with Carmen Muñoz titled “Germen,” at the Auditorio La Chumbera in Granada, and visited the Teatros del Canal with the show “Lorca y la Pasión. Un mar de sueños.”
In 2022, she undertook several international tours to countries such as Turkey, Belgium, Ecuador, and Singapore.
