ALMUDENA SERRANO FERNÁNDEZ, a flamenco dancer, internationally known in the history of flamenco dance art with her stage name ALMUDENA SERRANO, was born in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz). At the age of thirteen, she began her studies in flamenco dance with Angelita Gómez and ballet classes at Belén Fernández’s school in Jerez de la Frontera.
Later, she moved to Seville with a scholarship to study at Matilde Coral’s flamenco dance school, training with renowned artists such as El Mimbre, Manolo Marín, Alejandro Granados, Mario Maya, and Merche Esmeralda. The latter artist proposed her to join her company with the show “Ciclos,” leading her to move to Madrid.
In Madrid, she continued her training with La China, El Guito, Manolete, Domingo Ortega, Joaquín Grilo, Rafael Amargo, and others. She participated in the Festival de Jerez with the show “Entre Sevilla y Jerez,” directed by Manolo Marín and Angelita Gómez, at the Mont de Marsans Festival, at the Seville Biennial for young flamenco artists, at the Viernes Flamencos in Jerez, at the Expo Zaragoza in 2008, and at the Festival de Jerez in the “Los Novísimos” cycle alongside the dancer Pepe Torres.
She has worked in renowned tablaos such as El Lagar de Tío Parrilla in Jerez, El Cordobés in Barcelona, Café de Chinitas in Madrid, and Casa Patas, Los Gallos, and El Arenal in Seville. She was a finalist in the National Competition of Córdoba, winning the Carmen Amaya prize in 2004. She was also a finalist in the La Unión Competition in 2006. Almudena has taught classes in Germany, Norway, Belgium, China, Chicago, New York, and more.
