Elena de Morón

Elena Barrera Rojas, artistically known as Elena de Morón, was born in the flamenco-rich town of Morón de la Frontera, in the province of Seville. From a very young age—around 7 or 8—she began her training in flamenco singing with the cantaora Ana la Yiya and the guitarist Pepe el Francés. Her talent led her to participate in the “Naranjito de Triana” singing contest, where she was awarded the Acciona scholarship to study at the Cristina Heeren Foundation of Flamenco Art during the 2019–2020 academic year. There, she trained under great maestros such as José de la Tomasa, Esperanza Fernández, Juan José Amador, and María José Pérez.

After her studies, she worked at the foundation for two consecutive years, assisting in guitar and dance classes and collaborating with prominent flamenco artists like Luisa Palicio, Antonio Molina “El Choro”, Javier Barón, Pedro Sierra, Paco Cortés, and Fernando Jiménez. Currently, Elena performs regularly at well-known flamenco venues in Seville such as Teatro Flamenco Sevilla, La Casa del Flamenco, Lola de los Reyes, and Las Setas, building a solid artistic career.

Throughout her journey, she has won several awards in flamenco singing competitions across Andalusia and has participated in major festivals such as the Gazpacho Flamenco of Morón de la Frontera and the Seville Flamenco Biennial. Her art has taken her to international stages in Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Austria, and she has starred in renowned productions like “Ciudad de Plata”.

Elena feels especially connected to the deeper, more serious flamenco styles such as seguiriyas, soleá, levante, and malagueñas, where she finds the greatest freedom of expression. For her, flamenco is a way of life—a form of liberation that allows her to sing, dance, or play from the soul. Her artistic path is guided by a deep passion and a continuous desire to grow within the vast world of flamenco.
