Felipe Mato

Felipe Mato is originally from Seville, the city where he begins his training in classical ballet, Spanish dance, and flamenco at the Conservatory of Dance and the Matilde Coral School.

At the age of fourteen, he starts his professional career, traveling across Europe and performing in various tablaos while continuously honing his skills.

The National Competition of Córdoba and the Young Interpreters Competition at the Seville Biennial in 2002 are some of the significant international contests where the young dancer has been a finalist, competing with other talents in the art of dance.

For years, he has been teaching at the Flamenco Workshop in Seville, where he is recognized as a distinguished instructor.

Among his notable performances, it is worth mentioning his participation in “De Cadiz a Cuba” with Mario Maya’s Company, debuting at the Seville Flamenco Biennial in 1998. Also, in 2003, with a prominent role, his interpretation in “Inmigración” by Ángeles Gabaldón, at the Central Theater of the Betic city.

In 2004, he creates Harmattan, a group of mestizo flamenco with his fellow artists Jallal Chekkara (Moroccan musician), Antonio Montiel (percussionist), Monica Morris (dancer), and Daniel Méndez on the guitar.

From that moment on, he alternates between his roles as a teacher and a dancer, becoming one of the most significant masters in the flamenco field. His natural ability to disseminate the art of flamenco dance is complemented by a continuous expansion of knowledge, which he shares in his workshops at the national and international levels.

In this recent period, Mato has presented shows such as “Una forma de vida,” “Made in Spain,” “Calle Sierpes,” and his current representation with his own company.
