Performances at La Cantaora
Marta Cañizares was born in Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmádena (Málaga, Spain). She completed her Professional Artistic Studies in Flamenco Dance at the “Pepa Flores” Professional Conservatory of Dance in Málaga and obtained a Degree in Flamenco Dance Pedagogy from the “Ángel Pericet” Higher Conservatory of Dance.
She furthered her training at the Young Flamenco Dancers School of the Federation of Flamenco Clubs of Málaga, under the direction of Susana Lupiáñez “La Lupi”.
Her artistic development has been enriched through masterclasses, festivals, and seminars with renowned artists such as Eva Yerbabuena, Antonio Canales, and Rubén Olmo. She worked as repetiteur for “La Lupi” during the “Alento y Zaguán” production for the National Ballet of Spain.
In 2018, she received the Best Dancer Award at the Málaga Crea contest.
She has performed in tablaos in Málaga, Madrid, and Barcelona, and since 2015 she has been a member of the Antonio Andrade Flamenco Company, touring internationally with shows like “Carmen” and “Flamenco Suite”.
Currently based in Seville, she continues to perform in the city’s tablaos and, since 2024, has been part of Mercedes de Córdoba’s company, premiering the show “OLVIDADAS, a las sin sombrero” at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla.
